George Bauer moved his family to the Burlington area from Cloquet, MN settling in Lyons in 1962. An over-the-road driver for Quality Carriers for over 25 years, George retired in 1980. Upon retirement his love of the scenic highways across America took him back to work for Hansen Trucking in Delevan. Primarily hauling “Andies Candies” out of Delevan, it was a given that George was home when the “Andies Candies” rig, as we all knew it, rolled into town. George began acquiring his own trucks, while driving for Hansen, building the fleet to three. His four youngest children became interested in the business and upon his death in 1986 carried on his legacy for a couple of years before separating to start their own companies: Quality Express, Lyons; Taz Trucking, Wind Lake; and Craig Bauer Trucking, Lyons. Quality Express was started in 1990 by Kevin and Jerry and currently runs long haul loads. Sharon now married and living in Wind Lake, started Taz Trucking in 1997. Craig Bauer Trucking was established in 2004 by Craig and his wife Cheri, also a Lyons native. Craig Bauer Trucking, with a fleet of 5, hauls pre-finished concrete in Northern Illinois and Southeastern Wisconsin for Modern Builders located in Kenosha.
